Hyderabad Metro Rail



Features of Hyderabad Metro Rail :- 
Hyderabad Metro Rail (MRTS) project is planned in three high density traffic corridors of the city spanning across 72 km in phase-I. 
  • • The three corridors spanning a length of approximately 72 km to be taken up in phase-I are as under.
    •  Corridor I: Miyapur – LB Nagar : 29 kms; 27 stations.
    •  Corridor II: JBS – Falaknuma : 15 kms; 16 stations.
    •  Corridor III: Nagole – Shilparamam : 28 kms; 23 stations.
  • • The Metro rail system under construction is a completely elevated system, generally run in the central median of the road. 
  • • The track gauge is a Standard Gauge (1435 mm).
  •  •Stations are located at an average interval of 1KM – elevated stations with passenger access through staircases, escalators and lifts;
  • With a frequency of 3 to 5 minutes during peak hours, the system is expected to carry about 17 lakh passengers per day by 2017 and 22 lakh by 2024; 
  • • With a maximum speed of 80 kmph, the average speed of the trains will be 34 kmph – an international standard for MRT systems;
  • • The travel time by metro rail from one end to another is:
    • 45 minutes for Corridor I (Miyapur-L.B.Nagar – 29Km) as against 1 hr 50 minutes by bus;
    •  22 minutes for Corridor II (Jubilee Bus Station-Falaknuma-15 Kms) as against 1 hr.10 minutes by bus;
    •  and 39 minutes for Corridor III (Nagole-Shilparmam-28 Kms) as against 1 hr. 30 minutes by bus;
  • • Coaches will be air-conditioned with automatic door-closures and many other safety features;
  • • All stations will have air conditioned “Merry go round” mini-bus services, connecting nearby colonies, business establishments and other popular places; 
  •  Smart card-based Automatic ticketing & gate systems for passenger convenience and seamless travel;
  • A train will consist of 3/6 coaches A.C. Coaches

  • • Each coach shall have 8 electrically powered exterior sliding bi-parting doors, 4 on each side and the doors open only at Metro Rail Stations.
  • • Width of each coach is scaled to 3.2m and the height of coach is 4.0m.
  • • The width of the elevated guide way structure is 9.6m with a lineup and down-line rail track signaling.

Proposed World's Tallest Tower - Construction in 90 Days



SKY CITY is an 838m (2,749ft) tall skyscraper approved for construction in the city of Changsha, Hunan in south-central China. The prospective builders,Broad Sustainable Building, estimated it would take just 90 days to construct,but this is not counting 120 days of prefabrication before on-site work commences; the total schedule is 210 days. If completed, it could become the tallest building in the world.
Broad Sustainable Building, who specialise in making buildings that are sustainable, cost less, use environment friendly materials and can be built in a short amount of time, using techniques like prefabrication, had intended to build a 666m (2,185ft) tall skyscraper, but the local government wanted the world's tallest building, hence the current plans. The company has constructed 20 buildings in China using the same method and has several franchise partners globally.

Building layout
If built as planned and to schedule, Sky City would likely be the tallest building in the world, with 220 floors and a total height of 838m (2,749ft). The construction plan calls for it to be built from pre-fabricated units constructed on site in an unprecedentedly short period of 90 days. BSB's plan is to assemble 95% of the building in its factory before any excavation takes place at the build site. The fabrication process is due to take around six months, before the actual construction begins.


According to the plan, the building, across 220 stories, will have a hotel accommodating 1000 guests, a hospital, 5 schools and offices. Of the total space available, nearly 83% will be for residential purposes, housing up to 17,000 people. 5% will be for the hotel housing 1000, while 3% each will be dedicated to schools, hospitals, offices and shops. There will be 10 fire escape routes, which will evacuate everybody in a given floor within 15 minutes; the building will be fire-resistant for up to three hours. It will also have 17 helipads.

For transportation there will be 104 high-speed elevators installed. Many have critiqued the safety of these potential elevators, because they take multiple minutes to get from bottom to top. The 5000 residential properties will be able to accommodate 17,400 residents. The proposed building will have total floor space of 1.2 million m2(13 million sq ft). The main building will have 1.05 million m2(11 million sq ft) of this area, with a basement of 130,000 m2(1,400,000sqft) and a 3 to 7 floor-high annex of 35,000m2(380,000sqft). The total capacity of the building will be about 30,000.

The 4-layered glass used for the building's windows will keep the temperature of the building constant between 20 to 27 °C (68to 81°F). The air indoors will be specially filtered to be up to 20 times cleaner than the air outside. The lamps used in the building will be made of LEDs, saving energy. It has also been claimed by the builders that they are currently working with architects who worked on the Burj Khalifa.

Structural features


The project will consume 270,000 tons of steel. For its assembly factory, sustainable building technology and independent research and development will be required. The main advantages of the building will be reflected in its earthquake resistance, energy saving, cleanliness, durability, and materials, which consist of recycled building materials, non-aldehyde / non-lead / non-asbestos building materials, etc. The technology at the core of the whole steel structure is modular construction. The building would have 6inches (15cm) of insulated walls and quadruple glazing, contributing greatly to energy efficiency. The building will be designed to be resistant to earthquakes of up to 9.0 on the Richter Scale.


Although structural details are not available, outside architects have expressed doubts that a modular design would have the stiffness on lower floors to withstand the wind loads imposed by such a height, without unacceptable amounts of sway, or that the building could be built without high-strength concrete, whose curing time would preclude such a rapid construction rate. Most of the construction and production of materials will take place on site so as to benefit the local economy of Changsha.


Cost


A cost estimate of $1500 per square meter of floor space would make Sky City considerably cheaper than the similarly tall Burj Khalifa($4500 per square meter). The total cost is also considerably less, with the Burj requiring about £940 million ($1500 million) in 5 years, compared to Sky City's £400 million ($625 million) in 90 days. Broad Sustainable Group has purchased 67,300m2(724,000sqft) of land, for a cost of 390 million yuan ($63 million).


Schedule


The project has been delayed in its schedule several times in the past, particularly due to awaiting government approval on starting construction. In October 2012, the group announced that they had received approval from the local government and that construction would begin in November, but announced a new build time of 210 days. This meant completion of the project in June 2013.
On June 17, 2013, Broad Sustainable Building Group Chairman Zhang Yue said that construction will commence in August 2013 with the first four months spent for prefabrication and the next three months for installation onsite. The expected date of completion is March 2014.

Recently I’ve come across  house floor plan software  Sweet Home 3D.

Sweet Home 3D is an impressive floor plan software, easy to use, intuitive and fast. The 3D views are amazing
You need not be an Civil Engineer or Architect to plan your dream home. You have two options . The program can work directly in a browser connected to the web. It also exists as a desktop version you can download and run locally on your computer.
Downloading and installation is simple. 
You can add walls to create spaces, or create rooms directly. Walls and rooms can be resized, moved. You can also place and arrange all sorts of furnitures in the room and spaces to see circulation paths, usability of your floor plan.
The most interesting feature is the 3D view in the second bottom half of the screen. Whenever you change something in the 2D view the change reflects immediately on the 3D view. Tailor made furniture, Doors, Windows, Kitchen Accessories, Toilet Accessories are available which makes your house more realistic. 
Not only that the software also allows you to move around the 3D image with the mouse to examine your plan from different perspectives. To me the speed of 3D rendering in Sweet Home 3D constitutes a great quality as it is a time saver comparing to other softwares. Although Floorplanner is capable of rendering your floor plans in 3D it takes much more time to do.
Other features I like about Sweet Home 3D include:
  • Use metric system (definitely easier to work in metric in Australia than having to mentally convert inches and feet)
  • 3D virtual visit of your dream house (what a great feature). It looks so real
  • Large collection of furniture, cabinetry, kitchen appliances can be arranged on the plan
  • Light fixtures
  • Window elevation can be adjusted
  • Dimensions of things can be precisely typed in via keyboard
  • Walls can be “painted” with different colours (different colour each side)
  • Colours and patterns for floor
  • Import a floor plan as background image. If you want to modify or adapt an existing floor plan this option will speed up the process a lot
  • Print to PDF. When you print to PDF the listing contains not only your 2D plan but also a 3D view of it. 
Overall Sweet Home 3D boasts impressive functionalities. It is so powerful and versatile, yet easy to manipulate, that you could use it to draw floor plans for a new house, to concoct a furniture rearrangement/upgrade or to design a kitchen renovation. 1. South Valley Development, Egypt :- Trying to disperse Egyptian population to other areas, there are some major development going on in the Sahara desert. Water is being transported

It will also have the largest hotel with 6,500 rooms
and one of the biggest Malls with at least 10 million square feet. The completion of this project is estimated for 2025.
4. International Space Station, Space - The ISS circulates the Earth every 92 minutes and was created by a partnership between 15 nations and 5 space agencies. This consortium will spend $60 billion over the next years completing upgrades and necessary equipment so it can continue to perform its mission. The project is almost finished with finishing touches being made over the last two years.
5. South-to-North Water Transfer Project, China - The North of China is home to almost 50% of China's population, but it only has near 20% of water resources. Three of the China largest rivers will be supplying water to the North area by the construction of three water canals, each one of them with a longitude of more than 600 miles. It is a 48 year project, that will require the relocation of several hundred of thousands habitants, but there are great concerns regarding flooding potential and water quality issues. When completed it will supply 44 billion cubic meters of water annually.
6. Yas Island Mixed - Use Complex, Abu Dhabi- This will become one of the middle east major vacation destination. Yas Island will have a Formula One racetrack going through its marine and running under the Yas Hotel. Another trademark being built here is the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, world's largest indoor theme park It will be a tribute to Italian landmarks like the Coliseum and Venice.
7. Songdo International Business District, South Korea - Building a new urban center in Incheon, Korea, it will have a population of over 60,000 and the tallest South Korea building. The construction project is expanding over 1,500 acres reclaimed from the sea.
8. Sellafield Nuclear Site, England - Covering over 700 acres, this is the U.K.'s primary nuclear-fuel reprocessing facility. Containing the world's first commercial nuclear power plant, that finished operations in 2003, there is some cleaning to do. The process will take more than a century. By 2120, the Sellafield site will have achieved brownfield status.
9. Saadiyat Island Entertainment and Leisure Destination, Abu Dhabi - Selling land plots to private investors, they are projecting that it will all be developed according to the master plan. The four cultural venues will be connected by a Canal: a Louvre branch, a Guggenheim branch, a performing arts center, and a cultural heritage museum. For 2018 the project will be almost completed with a marine center, beaches and plenty of recreational spaces.
10. Great Man-Made River Project, Libya – Hoping to irrigate more than 350,000 acres and providing several cities with water, Libya has been working in it since 1985. The project will be extracting water from underground sandstone areas. Three phases of the project have been completed; phase four is under way. Work should be finished by 2030.
